I have over 10 years experience in developing, troubleshooting and hosting websites
In 2001 I secured a placement on my HND Computing course with CN Group, one of the largest remaining independent newspaper publishers. At the end of my placement I was offered an immediate full-time job, which after some thought I accepted.
During 2004 I took and passed 3 Microsoft exams to become a Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD) using Visual Basic. Since then I have learnt C# and now use this in preference to VB when developing using .NET
In 2009, after having being promoted to senior level I left CN to take up a position with a small local web design company where I worked for some 18 months before the credit crunch meant that I had to leave and become self-employed.
I have been focusing in the last 18 months in gaining additional skills in Linux and open-source technologies such as PHP and Python. I've deployed many sites using Modx, SymphonyCMS (PHP) and Django (Python) and currently host dozens of websites using Rackspace Cloud. I still develop using ASP.NET but have made these the focus of my attention for the time being.
